Chamber Music Concert Jan. 31

Free chamber music concert in Pleasantville on January 31, featuring the Quintet of the Americas

The second free chamber music concert presented in the Pleasantville Chamber Music Society’s 39th season will feature five distinguished performers who comprise the Quintet of the Americas on Sunday, January 31, at 3:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church, 400 Bedford Rd., Pleasantville, NY. The quintet’s diverse program includes music from three centuries ago (a Bach concerto) through 2015 {Variable Winds, by Daniel Ott, and commissioned by the Quintet).

The Program:

· Daniel Ott: Variable Winds

· South America Dances by José Barros, Ernesto Lecouna, and Astor Piazzolla

· James Cohn: Arkansas Reel

· Valerie Coleman: Afro-Cuban Concerto

Established in Bogotá, Colombia in 1976 and based in New York City since 1979, Quintet of the Americas has commissioned over 90 works; performed over three hundred concerts throughout the United States, and in Canada, the Caribbean, South America, and Eastern Europe, and recorded eight CDs. The performers are: David Wechsler, flute; Matt Sullivan, oboe; Paul Won Jin Cho, clarinet, Gina Cuffari, bassoon; and Barbara Oldham, horn.

Free parking is available at the church, in nearby municipal lots, and on the street.

Since its founding in 1976 the Pleasantville Chamber Music Society has been supported by the business and professional community, and by individual contributions.
