Coronavirus Transmission Risk Hits "High" In Most Of The HV: CDC

In the Hudson region, the positivity rate rose to 2.98 percent in the past seven days.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Most counties in the region saw coronavirus community transmission rates rise over the past week, so much that the Centers for Disease Control raised the risk level to "high" for Dutchess, Orange, Rockland and Westchester.

Putnam and Ulster counties remain in the "substantial" risk category.

"COVID-19 is spreading across our State, and it will take New Yorkers' concerted effort to get vaccinated and defeat this virus for good," Gov. Andrew Cuomo wrote in his Monday briefing about the pandemic. "The Delta variant is threatening to hamper our ability to rebuild and revitalize New York for the future, and getting shots in arms is the surest way out of the COVID crisis. For everyone who is able to get the vaccine and hasn't yet received it—we have available vaccines and sites are open today, so get it as soon as you can."

In the Hudson region, the positivity rate rose to 2.98 percent in the past seven days; statewide the rate was 2.96 percent. Per county, the positivity rate for Sunday:

  • Dutchess: 3.6 percent
  • Orange: 5.5
  • Putnam: 4.2
  • Rockland: 5.0
  • Sullivan: 4.6
  • Ulster: 3.0
  • Westchester: 4.1

On Sunday, 3,615 New Yorkers tested positive in the state, bringing the total to 2,163,144. Twelve people died of COVID-19 on Sunday in New York, none from the Hudson Valley.
