Dumas Scores 200th Career Lacrosse Goal

Senior hits big number before the end of the season.

Carly Dumas, a senior attack on the girls varsity lacrosse team, scored her 200th career goal last Friday, during a home match against O'Neil High School.

"It was really exciting because I wasn't really expecting to do it on Friday," she reflected. "It was a good surprise."

Dumas, also a team captain, scored nine goals in total during the game, aiding her team in a 17-2 victory and bringing the team's overall record to 8-4.

"It was the ninth goal," said Dumas of her 200th. "It was at the end of the game."

She said she is proud of the way the team played during the season, and during her four-year career as a varsity player.

"We had a lot of seniors on the team," Dumas said of this year's team. "We're used to playing with each other and everything...I think [the season] went well. Heading into sectionals is exciting—we'll see where that brings us."

Dumas is heading to Auburn University in the fall, where she may play club lacrosse.

"It's bittersweet," she said. "I really didn't want to end [the season] without getting my 200th goal, and its sad because if I don't play in colleage, this will be the last time I ever play lacrosse."

This week, the team gears up for sectionals, and faces off at Pearl River tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
