Feds Add Charges In Briarcliff Child Porn Case
A man arrested in February now faces federal charges for possessing and sharing thousands of images and videos of child pornography.

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — Federal charges have been filed against a man accused in February of possessing and distributing thousands of images and videos of child pornography. Joon H. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced Wednesday the arrest and filing of charges against Anupam Biswas, whom they identified as a former Westchester resident.
When Biswas was arrested in February, after a Valentine's Day raid of his house, the Westchester County District Attorney identified him as a Briarcliff Manor resident. He was charged then with one count of Promoting An Obscene Sexual Performance By a Child, a class "D" Felony, and one count of Possessing An Obscene Sexual Performance By a Child, a class "E" Felony.
Biswas, 46, now faces federal charges: one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each of the two charged counts. The statutory maximum penalties are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing would be determined by the judge.
