It wasn’t Briarcliff’s prettiest victory this football season, but it was another win nonetheless.
's football team is starting to create quite a buzz both in town and around the section–especially in Class B–with its current perfect record (3-0). While no one has forgotten the team went winless last season, but this is a new year and a different team. The Bears continued to prove that as they handled visiting Edgemont (2-1) 19-6 yesterday at home.
Each of Briarcliff’s three scoring drives came on pass plays and senior wide receiver Jackson Plimpton was the recipient on two of them, both
courtesy of Colin Orr. The first touchdown connection between Orr and
Plimpton was on a halfback option pass that went 75 yards to break the 6-6 tie and put Briarcliff up 12-6. The second touchdown put the game out of reach as Orr hit Plimpton all alone down the sideline on the far side for a 40-yard touchdown strike with 2:16 left to go in the fourth quarter.

“On the last touchdown, coach [John Consorti] told me we were
going to win the game on the play so I knew the ball was going to me and Colin threw a great pass and I just caught it and ran for the endzone,” Plimpton said. “These three wins are my first three varsity wins and it feels great to be at this point after all we went through last season. We just have to keep working hard and keep the right attitude.”
Edgemont let a great opportunity slip away early on in the fourth after an interception by Ben Levy put them on the Briarcliff 33-yardline. Edgemont got all the way to the 4-yardline and couldn’t manage to tie
or take the lead as quarterback Jackson Stone was met by a wall of Briarcliff defenders which forced a momentum crushing turnover on downs.

Briarcliff then proceeded to march 96 yards down the field on 13 plays-which was their third and final scoring drive-to end any Edgemont comeback hopes and to ignite the celebratory chants on the Briarcliff sideline and in the home crowd stands.
“Guys came out flat and stayed flat, simple as that,” Edgemont Head Coach Matt Bernstein said. “We played terrible today, we had too many penalties, we didn’t execute and they dominated us.”
