Girls Lacrosse: Bears Fall to Panthers at Home

The Panthers (12-1) started off with a strong lead in the first half, pulling ahead 5-0 with 8:55 left. Then, the Bears (7-4) came back with back-to-back goals, closing the gap to 2-5, prompting a time out called by the visiting team. The first half ended with Pleasantville in the lead at 6-2.
Pleasantville continued to dominate heading into the the second half, scoring three goals in a row with 21:35 remaining—securing a 9-2 lead, the largest of the game.

The Bears retaliated with three consecutive goals, bringing the score to 5-9 with 17:44 remaining.
A Briarcliff goal at the 14:30 mark followed by an impressive save by Senior Goalie Jenna Hirsch at the 11:42 mark brought the score to 6-12.

The final minutes of the game saw plenty of action, with Pleasantville's Victoria "Tori" Borges scoring with 3:56 remaining and then within the final minute of the game, solidfying the 15-8 victory.
Kristina Howe and Elizabeth King led the Panthers with four goals apiece; while Jamie Figler had 13 saves.
Kristiana Roth contributed three goals for the Bears, and Jenna Hirsch added eight saves.
Coming up, Briarcliff faces off against O'Neil High School at home, 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Pleasantville plays Westlake in a league game at home on Friday, 4:15 p.m.
