Lucy’s Sets Sights on Expansion by Fall
The bar hopes to cater to private parties with added space.
When business is good for local bars, they often look to take the windfall and create a sequel in a second location. Faced that favorable situation, in Pleasantville opted for something local to compliment their success.
“It was time to expand and instead of going into a different town, we decided to expand on the space that we have,” said Owner Sam Cucinell.
As is, Lucy's is upgrading the Bedford Road establishment at the expense of the outdoor patio.

Three floors in the making, he said, “We didn’t go straight up, we also went out.”
The main room will get some renovation, while a dinning mezzanine will sit below a third floor, private party room.

A kitchen included, he said, “We’ve done a lot of parties in the past, but everything had to be outsourced.”
By late fall, dinners will be able to look over the crowd and listen in on live music as the mezzanine surrounds the main room from above.
On the other hand, seating will not be a prerequisite for eating.
“We’ll serve dinner throughout the place,” he said.
Otherwise, Lucy's isn't planning on getting too fancy with the food, but the bar-centric offerings are an upgrade on the typical chicken wings and tuna melt fare.
“We’re doing a nice spin on classic bar food,” he said.
The atmosphere also will put Lucy’s on par of more a one stop shopping for local nightlife. You can sit down to a nice dinner in one room and then open up to a band and dancing in another, explained Cucinell.
It also gives Pleasantville a flexible accompaniment to a night at the
“We’re hoping people come in before a show, grab something to eat–maybe a glass of wine, then go watch the movie and come here afterwards,” he said.
There’s also talk around town about a rooftop venue at Lucy’s. It’s something Cucinell is seriously considering after this project is completed and village approval is met.
But for the short term expansion of Lucy’s, Cucinell concluded, “We really want to push the private party aspect.”
