Mount Pleasant PD Make Prostitution, Illegal Massage Parlor Arrests

After receiving complaints, the Mount Pleasant Police Department made three arrests in relation to massage parlors in Thornwood in the past two weeks.

"Two locations have been identified in complaints," said Police Chief Louis Alagno, "and these complaints were based on the fact that there were illegal massage parlors and possible prostitution.

Li Gao, 48, of Lucky Body Works, located at 540 Commerce St. in Thornwood, was arrested on October 5 and charged with Illegal Practice of Massage, a Class E Felony. She was processed and released on bail.

Police also reported yesterday arresting a second Flushing woman, age 57, for the same alleged crime. She was also processed and released on bail.

On October 6, Yan Xiong, 36, was arrested at 43 Edwin St. in Thornwood and charged with Prostitution, a Class B Misdemeanor.

"In both cases, we had undercover officers go into the massage parlors," explained Alagno. "In the first one, the only impropriety was it was unlicensed. In the second one, the arrested person had offered to perform a sex act that led to her arrest."
