Photos: Weekend Sports Action at Briarcliff HS

Volleyball, field hockey and soccer games took place this weekend.

's athletic department was busy with several events on Saturday.

In addition to the  at home against Putnam Valley High School, the Bears boys soccer team bested Rye Neck, while the school also hosted the annual Booster Club Volleyball Tournament and Booster Club Field Hockey Tournament finals.

The boys soccer team defeated Rye Neck, 2-1, at home Saturday. TK Maeda and Yaron Rubin each scored a goal for the Bears, while Dan Greeburg tallied four saves. Louis Greco and Joe Ventura each assisted with Briarcliff's winning goals.

Orlando Gonzalez made 16 saves for Rye Neck, while Alex Barreto scored the Panthers' single goal.

The Bears head to Rye High School on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. game.

Putnam Valley High School was victorious at Briarcliff High School's Annual Booster Club Volleyball Tournament. Rye Neck placed second and the host earned third place. Hastings High School also competed in the finals.

Putnam Valley defeated Rye Neck in the tournament finals, 25-19.

Other participating teams included Valhalla High School, Mamaroneck High School, Edgemont High School and Sacred Heart High School of Yonkers.

Alexandra Givon of Putnam Valley was named tournament MVP.

For the Bears, Senior Déja Sutherland was named to the All-Tournament team.

On Monday, Briarcliff hosts Port Chester at 4:30 p.m.

Irvington bested Valhalla, 3-2, in the finals of the Field Hockey Booster Club Tournament. Ryan McMahon, Angela Conley and Alyssa Dicampli each contributed a goal for the Bulldogs.

Maddy Sulla and Jessica Grant scored Valhalla's two game goals, earning second place.

The Bears defeated Pelham Memorial High School in the consolation game of the field hockey tournament, 2-1. Kristiana Roth and Abby Peress each scored a goal for the host team. Natalie Paulmeno contributed six saves.

Caroline Fink had 10 saves for the Pelicans.

Briarcliff next travels to Valhalla HS on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 4:15 p.m.
