Pleasantville, Briarcliff Manor Election Results 2016: State Senate, US Senate, DA

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Registered voters in Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville chose candidates for president and vice president, United States senator, state Supreme Court Justices and representatives to U.S. Congress, state Senate and state Assembly.

Anthony Scarpino handily defeated Bruce Bendish in the election for Westchester County District Attorney. With 99 percent of election districts reporting as of 1:31 a.m., Scarpino had received 239,342 votes and Bendish had received 104,912 votes. Results are unofficial until verified.

In State Senate District 4o, with 320 of 330 districts counted, as of 12:10 a.m. incumbent Terrence Murphy had 73,306 votes and challenger Alison Boak had 51,755 votes, according to unofficial results from the New York State Board of Elections.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is the projected winner in his re-election campaign, with 77 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the New York State Board of Elections at 9:45 p.m.

The key to party affiliations: D = Democratic, R = Republican, C = Conservative, WF = Working Families, G = Green, IND = Independence, LBT = Libertarian, WEP = Women’s Equality Party and REF = Reform.

Here are the candidates on the local ballot:

For President of the United States

The candidates for president and vice president are Republicans Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld and Green Party Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.

For U.S. Senate

New York’s senior Senator Chuck Schumer (D) faces three challengers: Wendy Long (R), Alex Merced (L), and Robin Laverne Wilson (G).

For United States Congress

In District 16, which covers southern Westchester and a bit of the Bronx, incumbent Eliot Engel (D) is being challenged by Derickson Lawrence on the People's Choice Congress line.

In District 17, which covers Rockland County and central and northwestern Westchester County, incumbent Nita Lowey is unopposed.

For New York State Senate

State Senate District 35 includes the cities of New Rochelle, White Plains, Yonkers; the towns of Greenburgh, Scarsdale; and the villages of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Elmsford, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Scarsdale, Tarrytown. Andrea Stewart-Cousins, D-WF-IND-WEP is running unopposed.

State Senate District 37 includes the cities of New Rochelle, Rye, White Plains, Yonkers; and the towns of Harrison, Mamaroneck, North Castle, Rye, Bedford and Eastchester. Incumbent George Latimer, (D-WF-WEP) is being challenged by Julia Killian, (R-C-IND-REF).

State Senate District 38 is mostly in Rockland County with a bite out of Westchester; it includes all the communities in the towns of Clarkstown, Orangetown, Ramapo and Ossining. Incumbent David Carlucci (D-IND-WEP) faces Thomas DePrisco (R-C-REF)

State Senate District 40 includes parts of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties, including Beekman, Carmel, Cortlandt, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, Mount Pleasant, New Castle, North Salem, Patterson, Pawling, Pound Ridge, Somers, Southeast, Yorktown; and the city of Peekskill. First-term incumbent Terrence Murphy (R-C-IND-REF) is seeking re-election. He is challenged by Alison Boak (D-WF). The two have run a contentious campaign.

For New York State Assembly

Assembly District 92 is comprised of parts of Westchester County, including Tarrytown, Irvington, Hastings-on-Hudson, Pleasantville and portions of Scarsdale. Thomas Abinanti, D-WF-IND, is running unopposed for reelection.

Assembly District 93 is comprised of parts of northern and southern Westchester County, including Bedford, Mount Kisco, New Castle, Pound Ridge and Armonk and portions of Purchase and Harrison. David Buchwald, D-WF-IND-WEP, is running unopposed for reelection.

In Assembly District 95, which includes Ossining, Cortlandt and Peekskill in Westchester and the towns of Philipstown and Kent in Putnam County, Democrat and longtime incumbent Sandy Galef is challenged by Republican Greg Purdy.

Westchester County District Attorney

Democrat Anthony Scarpino and Republican Bruce Bendish are vying to replace interim Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty. He has been holding the job vacated by Janet DiFiore when she was appointed to the New York Court of Appeals by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Supreme Court, 9th Judicial District

Three people are running unopposed for three seats: Linda Jamieson, (D-R-WF-IND), Janet Malone (D-R-WF-IND), and Thomas E. Walsh II (D-R-WF-IND).
