Pleasantville Police Blotter: Basement Burglars; Theft from Restaurants
The following information was supplied by the police departments. When arrests are noted, they do not indicate a conviction.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the from September 26 — October 2, 2011.
Sunday, Oct. 2
7:14 a.m. — Mount Pleasant Police reported receiving a phone call from a Bedford Road building, where an unwanted woman was allegedly banging on the door. The caller told MPPD the woman was likely looking for her son at the building. Police confirmed that was the case and the woman later left without further incident.

Saturday, Oct. 1
7:47 p.m. — An employee of the called police to report theft of service. She stated two males and a female, all estimated to be in their 20s, had dined together in the restaurant and left without paying a $232.05 bill. She said she would contact the phone number on the reservation to attempt to receive payment.

2:55 p.m. — The owner of called police to report sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. that day, someone had entered the business and taken an undisclosed amount of cash from a secured room. Police filed a report.
6:37 a.m. — A Saratoga Avenue man called 911 and reported there was an intruder in his basement who left when confronted and ran toward Meadow Lane. When police arrived at the scene, the resident said he heard a banging noise at approximately 6:30 a.m. and found a man in his basement who said he was visiting a friend. The resident said the intruder later said he was homeless and left when the homeowner stated he was going upstairs to call police. The homeowner said a copper pipe in the home appeared cut and missing. Police also found a bag with other copper pipes and clothing in the house. A report of the burglary was filed.
2:11 a.m. — A Marble Avenue resident called 911 and stated there was an unknown person in her home's empty apartment. The responding officer said the claim was unfounded. At 2:42 a.m., the woman called back and said she found lights on in her cellar and believes an intruder entered her home that way. Police said the residence appeared secured and the claim was unfounded.
Friday, Sept. 30
9:25 p.m. — A Hays Hill Road man called police and stated two of his car's tires had been slashed by an unknown person overnight. Police filed a report.
8:15 p.m. — A 19-year-old Valhalla woman was arrested after a traffic stop on Bedford Road for allegedly driving with a suspended license. Police reported the woman's license was suspended due to non-appearances in several jurisdictions. She was taken to headquarters for processing.
Tuesday, Sept. 27
6:45 p.m. — A 24-year-old Sunnyside Avenue woman came into headquarters to turn herself in on an arrest warrant. She is charged with possessing a hypodermic instrument.
4:40 p.m. — The owner of called police to report it appeared someone had pried open the restaurant's basement door. He stated someone had entered the basement, but nothing appeared to be missing. A report was filed.
