Pleasantville Police Blotter: Stolen Pocketbook; Home Burglarized

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the  from Jan. 16 — 22, 2012:

Saturday, Jan. 21

2:07 p.m. — A man called police and reported there was a car parked on Cooley Street near the intersection of Bedford Road with its door open and nobody around. Responding officers reported it appeared the door had been left open accidentally and did not detect any signs of foul play. Police secured the vehicle and left a voicemail for the car's registered owner asking him to contact police if he noticed anything missing.

Friday, Jan. 20

6:33 p.m. — A man came into police headquarters and stated he was involved in a minor auto accident on Wheeler Avenue in front of . Police reported one car had backed into a parked car on the street, causing minor scraping and smudging on both vehicles. Both parties agreed the incident should just be noted for the record.

3:34 a.m. — A Pleasantville man called 911 and reported he was in the area of Memorial Plaza and Bedford Road following two females he believed were involved with a larceny at . Police reported a stolen pocketbook was recovered with items missing.

Wednesday, Jan. 18

7:46 p.m. — Police received a 911 call reporting a break-in at a Lake Street residence. At the scene, responding officers reported a jewelry box was missing. Read more .

Tuesday, Jan. 17

3:38 a.m. — A police officer reported an auto accident on Broadway, where a truck hit a stone wall, pillar and Consolidated Edison pole. Con Edison was notified of the situation.

Monday, Jan. 16

1:15 p.m. — A caller reported youths hanging out on the ice of the Lake Street pond. Police reported correcting the situation without incident.
