Police: Car Hits Ossining Pedestrian on Route 9

The 53-year-old victim is at Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

A Williams Street resident who tried to jaywalk across Route 9 at 8:20 p.m. March 9 is in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, Ossining Police said.

The injuries, which included a broken leg and facial lacerations, are not life-threatening, said Lt. William Sullivan.

No charges were filed against the driver, an 83-year-old man from Pearl River who was headed southbound and who stopped after the accident.

The victim was trying to cross Route 9 from Denny to Aqueduct street in the area of the village known as the Hollow. 

Route 9 is a four-lane highway there.

"People should cross in crosswalks—and, late at night, in well-lit areas," Sullivan said.
