PRESERVING NEW YORK: Winning the Right to Protect a City's Landmarks

The fight to save New York's architectural treasures, Sunday April 17 at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library.

In his book, Preserving New York: Winning the Right to Protect a City's Landmarks, Professor Anthony C. Wood describes the history of how New York City got its Landmarks Law. Professor Wood, Chair and Founder of the NY Preservation Archive Project, will discuss the narrative of how New York came to have this law, from the City Beautiful movement, to the demolition of Pennsylvania Station and the Brokaw Mansion that helped to lead to the passage of New York's Landmarks Law in 1965. This presentation is co-sponsored with the Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society. Sunday, April 17 from 2:30-4 pm at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road, Briarcliff Manor NY 10510.  Registration is recommended but ALL are welcome to attend.
