We're proud to announce that the Pleasantville Farmers Market has been voted Best Of Westchester by the readers of Westchester Magazine. We would like to thank the more than 50 new and returning farmers and food artisans who bring healthful, regionally produced food to our community, and the thousands of people who come each week to support local agriculture, support neighboring businesses, shop for their families, and enjoy the delicious good time. Whether you voted for us this year or not, we promise to continue to create an experience worthy of your support.
Eat Colorfully:
Market Sponsor Phelps Memorial Hospital Center's Health Tip is perfectly timed for Saturday's first cherries and blueberries of the season:
"Eating Anthocyanin-rich plants like blueberries, cherries, blackberries, raspberries, and rhubarb provides the body with the tools to get rid of cell damage. These foods also boast anti-inflammatory properties and are linked with cancer protection, improved cognitive function and heart-health."
Dress Colorfully:
Phelps highlighted Anthocyanins, pigments that appear in many red, purple or blue foods. Last week over 75 kids and adults produced their own tie dye t-shirt using some very colorful pigments. Show your colors
Saturday: wear your tie dye shirts to the Market!
Plan Ahead:
The Market is beginning to look like summer with sweet and sour cherries in, blueberries beginning, and field produce increasing each week. Whether you make shopping lists, or make things up as you go, you can review vendors attending this Saturday with our Interactive Map of the Market by clicking here.
Visiting: Love Hope Strength Foundation
Its Get On The List bone marrow registry has registered over 61,000 people to date, from which 1000 potentially lifesaving matches have been found. Often held at rock concerts, Saturday's drive will be at the Market from
8:30 - 1:00. Stop by to learn about the free, easy
5 minute process to register. You could potentially be the lifesaving match for someone fighting leukemia or other blood cancers. If so, the donation is a simple outpatient procedure. This registry drive is timely as a Pleasantville family is searching for a match for a family member recently diagnosed with leukemia. To learn more visit lovehopestrength.org or stop by the Health and Sustainability Tent at the north end of the Market Saturday.
Get your Cool On
The north end is a cool place to be with Go-Go Pops offering fresh blueberry peach pops this week. Forty Weight Coffee Roasters has great iced coffee, and Breezy Hill Orchard has single serving ciders on ice too. The Market is also pretty cool when Randy Niles visits. With one guitar, one voice, and a whole lot of looping technology, Randy evokes sounds which resemble a 4-5 member group. Randy's unique layered instrumentation and lyrics are perfect for a relaxing Saturday morning at the Market.
Mrytle and the Mural
Myrtle the goat is visiting Saturday! This Nubian goat loves to visit kids when she isn't working at
The Butterfield Farm Company which produces artisanal goats cheeses and yogurts from goats milk. She is visiting with Tara Bryson who, along with business partner Michael Hearl, personally care for their family of over 100 animals who are credited for creating the beautiful and delicious goods that come from the farm. We will also have a fun group mural drawing activity as well for kids to participate in.

Pasta is Fresh at the Market
You can get the freshest pastas each Saturday from either Trotta Foods or Breezy Hill Orchard. Ed Trotta reports he has two seasonal varieties this week, each made with ingredients sourced from Market vendors: Rainbow Swiss Chard Ravioli, and also Butterfield Farm Goat Cheese with Spring Peas in Herb Pasta. YUM!
Need a Hand With That?
Shopping at the Market doesn't have to mean loading up on plastic bags. If you want fewer plastic bags in your kitchen and lifestyle, the Market has convenient, sturdy tote bags, made from 100% recycled plastic - and they can be used again and again. Purchase one bag for $3, or two for $5 at the Manager's Tent in the Market.
Get to Know the "Hidden Parking Lots of Pville"

One Week Only: Living Edge Designs
Living Edge Designs will be in again Saturday with artistic cutting boards, serving platters, and bread peals, all made from regional woods.
