Baseball Falls to Manhattanville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Setters fell to the Valiants of Manhattanville College 24-12 in non-conference action. Pace falls to 4-2 on the season, while the Valiants improve to 4-1 on the season.
Manhattanville got their offense going in the first two innings as they scored 10 runs in the opening inning and added nine more in the second to build an early lead. The Setters scored 11 of their 12 runs in the final five innings, including three in the seventh and five in the eighth and final innings.
James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) went 2-for-2 on the day with an RBI double in the first inning. Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI’s and scored twice, including an RBI single in the fifth and a run-scoring double in the eighth. Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford) went 2-for-3 with2 RBI’s and scored three runs, including a sac fly in the fifth and an RBI single in the seventh.
On the mound, Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) tossed the opening innings, allowing 10 runs and struck out one to fall to 0-1 on the season. Patrick Maher (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) pitched one inning allow, nine runs and struck out two. Robert Perez (Bronx, NY/Trinity Pawling) tossed four innings, allowing one run, while striking out four. Chris Gili (Waccabuc, NY/Eastport-South Manor) went 2/3 of an inning, while Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) came on for the final 1 1/3 inning as he struck out two.
