Baseball Wins Fourth in a Row; Complete Weekend Sweep Over AIC

We thank the  Sports Information Department for the below submissions:

The Setters completed a weekend sweep over the Yellow Jackets of American International College with a 6-5 victory in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action. Pace improves to 20-14 overall, 10-7 in the NE-10 and 8-1 in the NE-10 Southwest. For Pace, Joe Solomeno (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Chris Gili (Waccabuc, NY/Eastport-South Manor) was 2-for-4 with two RBI's. 

Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits, while striking out four to improve to 4-3 on the season. 

Softball Continues Hot Streak with Fifth Win in a Row; Sweep Away Franklin Pierce

The Pace Softball team, ranked #10 in the first NCAA East Region Poll, swept the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University 8-0 and 10-2 in five innings for both games in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 26-14 overall and 13-11 in the NE-10.

In the opener, Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) hit a two-run homerun, while Samantha Garcia (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) blasted a grand slam homerun to lead the Setters to an 8-0 win.

In game two,Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) blasted two homeruns, while Sabrina Gonzalez (Oxnard, CA/Ventura College) had a big three-run double. Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) earned the wins in both games as she tossed six scoreless innings in the doubleheader. 

Golf Finishes Fifth at River Hawk Invitational

The Pace University Golf finished in fifth place at the UMass Lowell River Hawk Invitational as they finished with a two-round score of 618 (307-311). UMass Lowell won the tournament as they posted a two-day total of 602 (309-293). The Setters were led by Rob Sorrentino (Tarrytown, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) who tied for ninth place with a score of 150 (78-72). 

Women’s Tennis Ends Season On Strong Note; Defeat New Haven 8-1

The women's tennis finished their season on a strong note as they defeated the Chargers of the University of New Haven 8-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters finish the season at 2-11 overall and in the NE-10, while the Chargers end their season at 1-12 overall and in conference play. Simona Mrazova (Bratislava, Slovakia/QSI International) cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1 singles, and also won at #1 doubles.
