Town of Ossining Police Blotter: Threatening Mail; Missing iPad

Here are some of the incidents to which county police responded in the town of Ossining.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety in the Town of Ossining from Monday, April 1 to Sunday, April 7.

Saturday, April 6

 3:06 a.m. — Westchester County Police responded to Samstag Avenue on a report that a car alarm was sounding. The vehicle owner was contacted to come out and silence the alarm. There was no sign that the vehicle had been broken into or damaged and it was unclear what triggered the alarm to sound.

Thursday, April 4

8:46 p.m. — Westchester County Police received a report that a baby had been left in a car outside Flames Steakhouse on North State Road. An officer located the vehicle and determined there was no infant inside.

Wednesday, April 3

6:20 p.m. – A resident of Minkel Road reported a suspicious vehicle to county police, noting that the driver was stopping in front of every house on the street. The vehicle was gone upon an officer’s arrival.

5:52 p.m. — A resident of White Birch Drive reported to county police that she and her son have been receiving unwanted emails from a person they do not know. The resident said she has asked her Internet provider to block the emails but asked for a police report to document the incident.

3:16 p.m. —  A resident reported that a white poodle was running loose on Hawkes Avenue near the Fox Run condos. An officer responded, however the resident who called reported that she had been able to capture the dog and return it to its owner.

Tuesday, April 2

9:02 a.m. — An employee at Anne M. Dorner Middle School reported to Westchester County Police that an iPad tablet computer was missing from the school gym. It was last seen when it was used on March 22.

Monday, April 1

8:51 p.m. — Westchester County Police received a report that some debris was on fire on Route 9A northbound near Stormytown Road. An officer responded along with the Ossining Fire Department but nothing was found.

4:10 p.m. — Westchester County Police responded to the Maryknoll Sisters residence on Ryder Road to assist a woman who had fallen and injured her hip. The Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and transported her to Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow.

9:00 a.m. — A resident of Woods Brooke Circle reported to Westchester County Police that she received a letter in the mail that contained sexual language and threats.  Patrol officers responded, took possession of the letter and turned the case over to detectives for further investigation.
