Town of Ossining Police Blotter: Threats; Dog Attacked

Woman reports suffering from vertigo, 911-hang up by fax machine and other recent calls.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety in the Town of Ossining from Feb. 25 to March 2, 2013.

Saturday, March 2

10:07 a.m. — Westchester County Police responded to a residence on McCarthy Drive on a report of a dispute between two men who were visitors to the home. One of the men accused the other of threatening to harm him, but that account was disputed by witnesses. The two men were advised by officers to stay away from each other to avoid further problems.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

10:28 p.m. — A resident of Hillcrest Avenue reported to county police that his dog was attacked in his yard by a neighbor’s dog, which had gotten loose. The neighbor agreed to cover any medical expenses incurred by the injured dog. The owner of the injured dog then left to go to take his pet to an animal hospital for treatment. The owner of the aggressive dog told officers that his pet’s immunization records were on file at a local veterinary practice.

7:17 p.m. — Two men were issued summonses for violating the town’s soliciting ordinance after Westchester County Police received a report of a man banging on the front door of a home on Downey Road. The 20-year-old Mount Kisco resident and 29-year-old New Rochelle resident are accused of soliciting work without the required town permit on behalf of a home remodeling company. They are scheduled to appear in Ossining Town Court on April 11.

4:04 p.m. — A resident of Gordon Avenue called county police to report that she was having an allergic reaction to some medication she had taken. An officer responded along with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, which transported her to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.

6:18 a.m. — Westchester County police responded to a residence on Minkel Road after receiving a 911 hang-up call. It was determined that a fax machine at the residence was somehow repeatedly dialing 911.

Monday, Feb. 25

11:31 p.m. — Westchester County Police assisted an elderly woman on Hawkes Avenue who said she was suffering from vertigo. The Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and transported the woman to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.

9:31 a.m. — Westchester County police responded to a residence on Cedar Lane to check on the welfare of a woman who called her son’s school to say she could not drive him there because she had taken some pills. An officer made contact with the woman who reported that she was taking prescribed medication for a back injury but that she was otherwise fine.

1:55 a.m. — Westchester County police responded to a residence on the grounds of Maryknoll on Ryder Road to assist an 84-year-old man who fell and was injured. The man was subsequently transported by ambulance to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.
