Trump Charity Portrait Could Be in Briarcliff Manor
A controversy about how the GOP presidential candidate's foundation handles its money now has a focus: a 6-foot portrait of The Donald
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — A portrait of Donald Trump purchased by his wife at a charity gala with Donald J. Trump Foundation funds may be hanging at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, according to the Washington Post.
The painting has become a focus in the ongoing controversy about how the foundation uses its money. A charitable foundation's money cannot be spent by its leaders on themselves. The six-foot painting was done as a fundraising gimmick at a charity auction in 2007, the Post reported. Melania Trump won the auction with a bid of $20,000. Payment was made by a check from the Trump foundation.
The Post sent a reporter to the club off Pine Road — who was not allowed in.

Trump listed the value of the 147-acre private club as being worth in excess of $50 million on a candidate disclosure form, according to ABC News. His lawyers, however, are arguing in a property tax grievance that it's only worth $9 million.
The village sent the club a bill for more than $200,000 after a problem on the course sent water, mud and rocks downhill across Pleasantville Road and into Law Memorial Park in 2011. The lawyers are fighting about that too.
