• Cyclist avoids charges after Port Jefferson Station dad dies after struck in Central Park (scallywagandvagabond.com) — A Port Jefferson Station father of two has died days after being struck by a speeding cyclist while walking through Central Park to work, and the rider currently faces no charges. Friends, family, and union colleagues are mourning Rich O'Brien, a Local 638 steamfitter, with a funeral planned in Port Jefferson Station and a fundraiser supporting his wife and young daughters.
