• MTA, Suffolk close deal to transform part of Lawrence Aviation site into rail yard (newsday.com) — A long-discussed plan to turn part of the former Lawrence Aviation Superfund site in Port Jefferson Station into a Long Island Rail Road train yard has finally moved forward, with the MTA buying 46 acres for $10. The deal preserves nearby green space while laying groundwork for potential electrification and better service on the Port Jefferson line, which many local commuters rely on daily. 
• Man, 41, dies days after being hit by cyclist in Central Park: NYPD (audacy.com) — A 41-year-old Port Jefferson Station resident, Richard O'Brien, died Sunday after being struck by a cyclist while walking to work in Central Park last week. The father of two, a union steamfitter, suffered severe head trauma in the early-morning collision near the Metropolitan Museum of Art and later died at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
