Candidate Forum in Port Chester Focused on Starwood Development
What will be built at the former United Hospital site is the issue.

PORT CHESTER, NY - A candidate forum sponsored by the Sustainable Port Chester Alliance has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10.
Organizers said the sole focus of the event will be the Starwood development project and the future of the United Hospital site.
Starwood Capital Group, which purchased the site in 2006 for $28 million, wants to build a 135-room hotel, along with 217,000 square feet of medical-type office space and 90,000 square feet of retail spaces. There would also be 500 residential units for young professionals and 230 age-restricted housing units.

Six trustee seats are up for election March 15.
The alliance is hoping to ensure that neither Port Chester nor its residents receive short shrift in whatever development agreement is crafted, organizers said.
The forum will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 327 Westchester Ave. in Port Chester.
