Cooking for a Cause Today at Carver Center; Fifth-Graders in PC Dance the Tango

A cooking class designed to teach young girls proper ways to eat healthy is scheduled for today at Carver Center with video of OASIS dance show this past Thursday.

Carver Center is taking on the tough task of convincing teens to trade those tantalizing McDonald’s chicken nuggets for a plate of steamed veggies.

That’s why local nutritionist Leslie Anders will introduce the kids and parents of Port Chester High School’s IDEA (Incentive Demonstration Education Assessment) to a few tasty recipes they can work into their everyday lives this afternoon.

Complete with a series of cooking demonstrations, food models and educational tools, the objective will be to send parents and kids home with some tips they can use in the kitchen—sans the fryer—or to the college dorm or their first apartment.

This past Thursday afternoon, students participating in the OASIS after-school program got their groove on to a series of contemporary tunes for their friends and family.

Fifth-graders participating in Dancing Classrooms, a national non-profit organization, traveled around the world of song and dance with their renditions of "The Tango" and "The Rumba," while other grades performed musical numbers from "High School Musical."
