District Teachers Say Goodbye: Mary Romanello
The departing science teacher has been a familiar face to Port Chester students for 22 years.

Mary Romanello spent her first three years with the Port Chester School District teaching at the Edison School.
And for the past 19 years, the science teacher has watched young faces light up as they run their first lab experiments and discover the joys of putting theories to the test.
There are lots of great memories that come from a classroom career that spanned more than two decades, but for Romanello the foremost memory from her teaching days will always be the kids who gave her joy in return.

"Certainly the day-to-day contact with my colleagues," Romanello said, "but I will also miss the opportunity to met new students and connect with their families."
What will the former teacher do now that her days will be spent outside the classroom? Romanello, 64, says her plans for retirement are a work in progress.
This year, 26 teachers are retiring and saying their goodbyes to Port Chester schools. On Monday, Port Chester Patch profiled retiring Port Chester High School teacher Larry Siena, whose career started in 1972 as a student teacher.
