Everyone Safe After Dramatic Fast-Moving Port Chester Fire: PCFD
The Port Chester Fire Department was assisted by crews from throughout Westchester Friday night. There were no serious injuries reported.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A quick response from firefighters across the region to a blaze at a mixed-use retail and residential building soon brought a fraught situation safely to an end.
Port Chester firefighters were called to a quickly spreading late-night fire on Friday. Thanks to their efforts and a little help from nearby crews, there were no injuries reported.
Just after 10:30 p.m., the Port Chester Fire Department was called to a building fire at 73 Poningo Street. Firefighters from Rye, the Town of Mamaroneck, Rye Brook, and Purchase Fire Departments were soon requested at the scene.

The fire is believed to have started on the first floor of the building, but progressed to the second floor as well. Additional crews from the Village of Mamaroneck and Valhalla Fire Departments were later requested at the scene. Valhalla was the second FAST (firefighter assist and search team) called to the fire.
All told, 14 different agencies provided support for the massive firefighting effort, including the Westchester County Emergency Services, Banksville Independent Fire Department, Harrison FD, West Harrison FD and Ossining FD.

The blaze was under control before midnight, according to officials, with all units back in service by 2 a.m.
As is standard, the fire is under investigation by the Westchester County Cause and Origin Team.
The Port Chester Fire Department thanked the mutual aid companies and their dispatchers at 60 Control for their hard work.
