First Baptist Welcomes Two New Staff

The Board of Trustees of First Baptist Church of White Plains and Senior Minister Rev. Tim Dalton are pleased to announce the appointment of Joshalyn Estrada as Minister of Youth and Families and Matthew Perez as Worship Minister. Both positions are newly developed.

Joshalyn was born in Santa Monica, California but grew up in El Paso, Texas. She is the daughter of Luis and Carmen Estrada who met in 1990 through First Baptist Church of White Plains. After graduating high school in El Paso, Joshalyn attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, where she graduated with a degree in religious education specializing in youth ministry and a minor in Spanish.

She served as youth director of Abundant Grace Church of Plainview, Texas and interned with the children and youth ministries at First Baptist Church of El Paso. Her passion is helping young people discover their talents and helping them figure out how the Lord can use them.

Matthew came to First Baptist a year ago as a professional singer in the church choir. This summer he served as Minister of Music. Matt is an active composer, educator, and music director. While an undergraduate, he studied at Old Dominion University under notable American composer Adolphus Hailstork, jazz pianist John Toomey, and choral director Nancy Klein.

He recently completed the Aaron Copland School of Music M.A. program in Composition while completing commissions, directing the Queens College New Music Group, and studying with professors Bruce Saylor and Jeff Nichols. His future plans include earning a doctoral degree and pursuing a career in both university-level education and professional composition.
