Former Port Chester Resident Dies While Climbing Wyoming Mountain

Port Chester native Catherine Nix, 28, and a friend fell to their deaths in Wyoming over the weekend while climbing Teewinot Mountain, reports Fios1News.

Nix, who was living in Jackson, Wy., was climbing the mountain Saturday morning with two friends, Rebecca Anderson, 26, and Tyler Strandberg, 27. Strandberg and Nix plunged about 200 feet and were killed; Anderson was rescued.

The three women had climbed more than 11,500 feet above sea level when the two fell and were discovered on a ledge near the “Worshipper” and “Idol” rock towers on the East Face of the mountain.
