Kliszus Attends Education Summit

National forum focuses on solutions to problems in educational system.

Port Chester’s Superintendent of Schools Edward Kliszus is sitting down with policymakers, elected officials, educators, parents, students, business leaders and others today in the 2011 NBC News Education Nation Summit.

Held at Rockefeller Center in New York City, the summit is a national discussion about today's educational challenges and potential solutions.

“This is an excellent opportunity to hear how others are approaching the challenges many school districts face each day,” Kliszus said. “I hope to be able to bring back new perspectives that spark fresh thinking among our administrators and teachers.”

The gathering started Sunday with a “Teacher Town Hall” moderated by the news anchor Brian Williams. Workshops all day today focus on topics including early learning, education from the governors’ perspective, innovation in the classroom and accountability. These workshops feature leading thinkers such as Warren and Susie Buffett, Melinda Gates, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Comcast Chairman/CEO Brian Roberts, nearly a dozen governors, and mayors from many large cities.
