Man Cuts Wallet Out of Victim's Pocket in Caveman-Style Robbery

Suspect Byron Andreno is accused of waving a sharpened stick before robbing his victim, according to police

A Port Chester man elected to go lo tech when he robbed an employee, brandishing a sharpened stick before using a pocket knife to cut the victim's wallet out of his back pocket, Port Chester police said.

Byron Andreno, 49, spotted one of his employees at the corner of East William and New Broad streets on Saturday morning. Andreno ran up to the car and flagged the victim down, threatening the other man over an earlier debt, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

At some point both men were standing on the street corner, and Andreno waved a sharpened stick at the 54-year-old victim until the other man grabbed it from him. That's when Andreno took a folding knife from a bag he was carrying and used it to cut off the victim's back pocket, helping himself to the man's wallet and keys.

When police arrived a few minutes after 8 a.m. after a call from a concerned witness, Andreno was still standing there with the wallet, keys and ripped back pocket in his hands. Andreno, of 221 Seymour Road, was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony.
