Police: 69-Year-Old Woman Caught Shoplifting, Wallets Stolen from Gym Rats

More than $1,500 was stolen when someone opened a locker at Bally's on Boston Post Road.

A 69-year-old Harrison woman was arrested Saturday afternoon for allegedly stealing balloons and coloring books from a Port Chester shop.

Port Chester police said a Party City employee spotted Barbara Rinaldi placing balloons, toy flash lights and coloring books in her purse before walking out of the store. Employees stopped her and called police.

Rinaldi, of Dellain Avenue in Harrison, was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

Two Port Chester residents were left short on cash Saturday when they were relieved of $1,600 while working out.

The victims went to work out at Bally's on 260 Boston Post Road and locked their wallets inside the gym locker room, Lt. James Ladeairous said. When the men returned after working out for about 20 minutes, they found the lockers still locked, and their wallets still inside, but their cash was missing.

One victim told police he had $1,500 in his wallet, and the other said his wallet was missing $100. The suspect had a key -- the lockers were not damaged and there was no sign of forced entry.

Police are investigating the thefts.
