Police: Lobbed Pastry Sparks Fight at Deli
Police say a fight between two deli employees turned ugly after the flying pastry found its mark on the victim's forehead.
A Greenwich woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly pegging a co-worker in the head with a pastry, leading to a fight between the two women, Port Chester police said.
Anna Mendez, 23, exchanged words with her 16-year-old co-worker at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday morning at a Putnam Avenue deli, Capt. John Telesca said. After a heated exchange in which the other woman asked Mendez to "tone down her attitude when giving orders," Mendez allegedly grabbed a pastry and threw it at the victim's forehead.
That sparked a fight in which both women threw punches and scratched each other, Telesca said. Paramedics were called, but the victim refused medical attention. Neither woman was seriously injured.
Mendez was charged with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor.
