Police: Suspects Nabbed After Back-Alley Robbery

Kafele Carty and Gerelle Pearson are accused of luring a man into a dark alley behind a Dunkin Donuts before robbing him of $200.

A man and woman from Port Chester were arrested Tuesday night, a day after they robbed another Port Chester man after luring him into a back alley, Port Chester police said.

The 21-year-old victim was walking on Midland Avenue at 5 p.m. when he spotted Kafele Carty, the man he says robbed him the previous night after Carty's accomplice lured the victim into a dark alley behind the Midland Avenue Dunkin Donuts while propositioning him for sex.

The victim called police and told them Carty was sitting in front of a laundromat at 140 Midland Avenue, hanging out with several other men. Officers arrived and questioned Carty, then brought him to police headquarters. Carty told his version of the story to police, Lt. James Ladeairous said, and after questioning him, police learned 21-year-old Garelle Pearson was the woman who had initially lured the victim into the alley the night before, touching him and suggesting a pay-for-sex arrangement.

In the original incident, once Pearson had brought the victim into the dark alley, Carty followed and relieved the victim of $200 before taking off.

When officers realized Pearson wasn't home at 5 Leonard Street, they called her and she willingly turned herself in at police headquarters.

Carty, 21, of 186 Grace Church Street, and Pearson were each charged with second-degree robbery, a felony. They were arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail.
