Port Chester Man Accused of Punching Girlfriend in the Face

Police: Woman hit while she's sitting in a car on North Pearl Street.

A 28-year-old Port Chester man is charged with assault after punching his girlfriend in the face while they were sitting in a car, according to Port Chester police.

Village police officers checking out a report of a problem at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Irving Avenue found a SUV with a man and a woman in it, and the woman had a swollen right eye.

When questioned, the woman, a 23-year-old Port Chester resident, at first told police she had struck her face on a door of the SUV. However, police said nearby witnesses said they saw the driver, Jorge Siguerza-Mora, 28, of 338 Locust Ave., Port Chester, hit the woman while she was in the car.

The man an woman were taken to Port Chester Police Headquarters, where a Spanish-speaking police officer interviewed the woman. During that interview, police said, the woman said that she had been hit by Siguera-Mora.

Siguera-Mora was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and he was also cited for driving without a license, police said. He faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
