Port Chester Man Arrested On Cruelty To Animals Charge: PD

The accused injured a dog before abandoning it, according to Greenwich police.

GREENWICH, CT — An 18-year-old Port Chester man was arrested on a charge of cruelty to animals Wednesday in connection with a February incident in Greenwich where he allegedly injured a dog, according to Greenwich police.

The dog suffered undisclosed injuries during a domestic incident the night of February 14 on Rodwell Avenue in Greenwich involving Alex Orozco, of Eldridge Street, and another undisclosed party.

"During the incident [Orozco] dragged a dog attached to a leash from his vehicle causing injuries to the dog," wrote Greenwich police in a statement. "Immediately after causing the injuries, Orozco tied the dog up alongside another road abandoning it."

Greenwich police obtained a warrant for Orozco's arrest, and he was detained at the Westchester County Jail where Greenwich police picked him up.

Orozco was unable to post his $50,000 bail and remains in custody at the Greenwich Police Department. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 18.
