Police: Port Chester Mom Hit With Order of Protection, Assault Charge After Whipping Daughter
A school guidance counselor notified police and Child Protective Services after a Port Chester mom allegedly hit her daughter with a telephone chord.

A Port Chester mother has lost custody of her daughter, at least temporarily, and faces an assault charge after allegedly whipping her daughter with a telephone chord, according to police.
The woman's 15-year-old daughter reported the incident to her guidance counselor at Port Chester High School, telling the counselor the incident happened on Feb. 5. As per standard rules when such an incident is reported, the guidance counselor reached out to Child Protective Services and the Port Chester Police Department.
Officers who spoke to the teenager reported bruises running from the girl's upper arm down to her forearm, Lt. James Ladeairous said.
The mother was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. She was arraigned in village court and released, with an order of protection prohibiting her from contacting her daughter.
The victim has left her King Street home and is staying with a relative, Ladeairous said.
Although it's Port Chester Patch's policy to include the names of suspects charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes, some incidents involve special circumstances. In this case, the mother's name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
