Port Chester MS Will Be Closed Friday

This will be the sixth day the school has been closed due to safety concerns. Students will have to make up lost classes.

PORT CHESTER, NY — District officials said Port Chester Middle School will again be closed Friday, Nov. 3. According to information on the school district’s website, the Central Office is open and all other schools are in session. Middle school students will return to classes Tuesday, Nov. 7, to make up for missed class days, though all other schools will be closed for Election Day.

The middle school will be a polling site for the general election.

A district spokeswoman said no decision had been made as of Thursday whether the middle school will be open Monday, Nov. 6.

The school has been closed since Friday, Oct. 27 due to a concrete panel that fell damaging windows. There are about 90 similar panels that must be inspected before the building can reopen.

Students will have to make up for the lost classes, the spokeswoman said.

“The administration is looking at the school calendar, which has built in make-up days for snow days, etc., as one way to ensure the students get the required number of school days this year,” she said.
