Port Chester's Capitol Theatre Won't Use Ticketmaster

Port Chester's most historic theater is taking a decidedly high-tech route to bringing in crowds, according to a report in Rolling Stone magazine.

is one of a growing number of venues turning to start-up "social ticketing platform" Ticketfly, a competitor to Ticketmaster.

The once-ubiquitous Ticketmaster has long drawn the ire of concert-goers for tacking large fees onto ticket prices. In the report, Ticketfly's CEO tells Rolling Stone that "convenience fees on Ticketfly are usually half that of Ticketmaster's."

Ticketfly also promises a user experience without the frustrations of quick website reloads and crashes as customers dash to scoop up high-demand passes to shows that sell out in minutes. The start-up offers a Facebook app that allows users to purchase tickets through Facebook.

Port Chester's Capitol Theatre is expected to open by mid-year after an extensive renovation.
