Rye Brook Settles Firefighter Dispute With Port Chester
The dispute began when Port Chester eliminated its professional firefighters.

RYE BROOK, NY — The Village of Rye Brook has reached a settlement with the Village of Port Chester regarding the fire services contract dispute. In an email, Rye Brook Mayor Paul S. Rosenberg said the settlement will allow his village to cover costs for providing overnight coverage of the Rye Brook firehouse.
“The settlement between Rye Brook and Port Chester also allows us to immediately settle our contract dispute with the Rye Brook Professional Firefighters union,” he said. “They have been working a lot of overtime since this dispute arose, and we really appreciate their efforts.”
Port Chester trustees voted in May 2016 to eliminate paid firefighter positions, after which the Village of Rye Brook filed a lawsuit for breach of services.
