School Calendar Highlights: Instrumental Concert, School Bullying Seminar and Board of Ed Meeting On Tap This Week

Whip out your day planners – it's a full schedule in the Port Chester School District this week.

PTA and Board of Education meetings, band concerts and an evening inf0-session for parents are all on the agenda this week.

Kindergarten Registration, All Elementary Schools

Those looking to enroll their toddlers in kindergarten for the fall 2011-Spring 2012 school year should do so today and Thursday at King Street School, Park Avenue School, Edison School and John F. Kennedy Magnet School.

All-District Instrumental Concert at Port Chester Middle School, 7pm

The show is comprised of the Symphonic Band of Port Chester High School, Port Chester Middle School’s sixth-grade band, seventh-and eighth-grade band and Select 5th Grade Band. The kids are eager to show off the hard work they've put into their musical endeavors this year.

Thursday, March 10

Rachel’s Challenge at Port Chester Middle School Auditorium, 7pm

This community event is an adult version of the program to reduce bullying and school violence that PCMS students will see in assemblies the same morning.

Board of Education Meeting at Port Chester High School classroom 229, 7:30pm

The top item on the agenda? This year's , of course. The district faces some this year–in an already cash-strapped economy, Port Chester faces additional challenges in rising pension costs and .

School board members have their work cut out for them, and they'll need help and input from parents and taxpayers. The meeting is open to the public and will include a comment session.
