School Calendar: Let There Be Music

This week in Port Chester schools.

Practice makes perfect this week for Port Chester schools, as children spanning grades three through 12 perform their instruments in front of family and friends.

Monday, December 12:

The King Street winter concert featuring 3rd graders, 4th and 5th grade Glee Clubs and the 5th Grade Band will be held at the middle school at 7 p.m. with Kristin Fleming and Michael Miceli directing.

Tuesday, December 13:

The high school will participate in the countywide program entitled, “Power of Peace,” where students learn conflict resolution, leadership, community service, and decision making skills, according to Westchester County.

King Street elementary school will hold its holiday dinner; King Street, JFK and Edison schools will hold PTA meetings. A parent workshop for the 21st Century Afterschool Program will be held at the middle school from 6-8 p.m.

At 7 p.m. at the middle school, it will be Park Avenue’s turn at performing. Their winter concert will feature 3rd graders, 4th and 5th grade Glee Clubs and the 5th Grade Band with Anthony Sabia and Kristin Fleming directing.

Wednesday, December 14:

Then comes JFK Magnet School with their 3rd graders, 4th and 5th grade Glee Clubs and the 5th Grade Band performing their winter concert at the middle school. Directed by Kristen D’Avanzo and Michael Miceli, the concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The “Power of Peace” program will wrap up at the high school. A walk to welcome winter will be held at the Park school at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday, December 15:

The 3rd graders, 4th and 5th grade Glee Clubs and the 5th Grade Band of Edison school will perform at the middle school at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Michael Johnson and Anthony Sabia.

It is also high school family night.

Friday, December 16:

Middle school 2nd progress reports are released to parents.

Saturday, December 17:

The JFK Magnet School holiday party.
