State Issues Violations Against Port Chester Fire Department

The fire in question happened almost two months before paid firefighters were laid off during budget cuts.

New York issued violations against the Port Chester Fired Department because two volunteers who were injured were not properly trained or outfitted with gear.

The Employee Safety and Health Bureau of the Department of Labor issued five violations, of which four were considered serious, the Journal News said.

The injuries were sustained in March at a fire on Cottage Place.

On May 20, the Port Chester Board of Trustees voted to eliminate all paid firefighter positions, prompting a lawsuit from Rye Brook over manning of its fire house.
