Teen Dies Falling Down Elevator Shaft In Former Hospital

Police were called because a group of teens were on the roof.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A teenager died after falling down an elevator shaft Tuesday in the former United Hospital building in Port Chester. Police said they were called to the scene because of reports there were seven or eight teens on the roof.

The 14-year-old fell about 60 feet, the Journal News said, with the rescue taking about two hours.

The boy, whose name has not been released, died after being taken to Greenwich Hospital.
