Starwood Capital Group purchased the site in 2006 for $28 million. The original proposal was to build a 135-room hotel, 217,000 square feet of medical-type office space, 90,000 square feet of retail spaces, 500 residential units for young professionals and 230 age-restricted housing units. There would also be a public park.
