Westchester Woman - a Former NYPD Psychologist - Accused of Shooting Her Husband

Charges were filed against Emily Dearden on Friday, and her husband also is suing her.

Former NYPD psychologist Emily Dearden, 46, of Yonkers is being sued by her husband, Kenneth Dearden, for allegedly trying to kill him by shooting him in the head so that she could be with her lover, according to WCBS-TV and media reports.

She also was charged with second degree attempted murder on Friday, a year after the November 2013 incident, according to The Journal News, which first reported about the lawsuit. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

The shooting occurred in their Yonkers home. Kenneth, who at first did not realize he had been shot, thought an intruder may have shot him. The New York Post writes that the lawsuit states that Emily shot him in the back of the head while he slept.
