12 Years For Long Island Man In Roommate's Fatal Stabbing: Police
Anthony Wayne Smith was originally charged with second-degree manslaughter in the 2022 slaying.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A Suffolk man, who stabbed his roommate to death last year inside the home he shared with him in what he later called self-defense, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Monday, Newsday reported.
Anthony Wayne Smith, 65, of Coram pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter back in September for the death of 55-year-old John Hall with whom he lived on Carr Lane, the outlet reported.
State Supreme Court Justice John Collins told Smith that he believes he is sorry that Hall "lost his life,” but he is "also certain that you have deluded yourself into thinking you are the victim in this matter."
