$30,000 in Heroin and Cocaine, Handgun Seized From Suffolk County Home

BREAKING: A 33-year-old resident at the home was arrested early Friday morning.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY - A 33-year-old Port Jefferson Station man faces drug and weapon charges after police executed a search warrant at his home early Friday morning.

Following an investigation into an illegal weapon at 70 Champlain St., Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives, with the assistance of Emergency Service Section officers, executed the search warrant at the home at 2 a.m.

Once inside, a .45 caliber handgun, a nine bullet handgun magazine, multiple bullets, heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000 and more than $12,000 were recovered inside a safe.

“The Suffolk County Police Department will not waver in our commitment to take illegal guns and drugs off of Suffolk County streets,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini said. “We are dedicated and determined to follow every credible lead, work with our law enforcement partners at every level of government and continue to create new innovative initiatives such as our Firearm Suppression Team and narcotics hotline to keep our residents safe.”

Edison Cabrera was arrested and charged with fourth degree priminal Possession of a weapon, two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, second degree criminal contempt and priminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
