New Things Are Sprouting Up Everywhere @ CPL This Spring!

Let us fill you in on all things NEW in the Children's Department @ Comsewogue Public Library! Read on to learn about our new iPads for preschoolers, web resources, programs for children and more.

Spring is around the corner and here in the Children's Department at Comsewogue Public Library new things are sprouting up everywhere!

In addition to computers for children in grades K-5 and teen computers for students in grades 6-12, we are happy to announce that we now have iPads for use by children in preschool and younger. The iPads are available for in-library use on the lower level of the Children's Department. A valid adult CPL card and NYS Driver License are required.

We are also now subscribing to two amazing new databases: World Book Online and Sesame Street eBooks. Both are available from our library homepage and can be accessed from home or in the library with a CPL card. World Book Online is an incredible database with something for everyone. Here you will find research tools, science project ideas, biographies, international newspapers and government resources. As an added feature, the Spanish database Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, is also accessible. Using Sesame Street eBooks you can introduce over 150 engaging, interactive and animated stories to your child.

Our Spring Newsletter is now available and registration for children's programs in March is underway. You can register online by clicking on the title of a program in the newsletter. Just have your child's library card handy. You can also view our registration date list to find out when registration for children's programs in April and May will begin.

In honor of National Nutrition Month we are displaying a host of food related books for children in our Read Something Delicious display. So stop in throughout the month of March to share a book about something yummy and start a conversation about nutrition with your child. By the way, there are some wonderful materials created by the USDA to help parents and educators teach preschoolers and school age children about nutrition at ChooseMyPlate.gov.
