The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan TwanEng

Swimming Home by Deborah Levy (to be released in the U.S. on Oct. 16)

Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel

The Lighthouse by Alison Moore   (Available through Amazon.com as a Kindle book- but no print copies. No U.S. publication date provided)

Umbrella by Will Self (To be released in the US on Jan. 8, 2013).

Peter Stothard, Chair of Judges is joined on the panel by: Dinah Birch, literary critic, Amanda Foreman, historian and writer, Dan Stevens, actor (best known to American audiences as Matthew Crawley on Downton Abbey http://alpha2.suffolk.lib.ny.us/record=b4360603~S50), and Bharat Tandon, academic writer and reviewer,

    British bookies are saying that Hilary Mantel’s Bring Up the Bodies and the Will Self’s Umbrella are the big contenders, so we shall see. The winner will be announced on October 16 so check back to find out!
