Treasure Ship Lands in Port Jefferson Harbor
Review of "Treasure Island A Muscial Adventure."

I have good news for those of you seeking a buried treasure. Your ship has arrived and it glitters with gold. The Theatre Three production of Treasure Island A Musical Adventure is nothing short of spectacular.
From the setting and lighting to the costumes, to the music and dance. Treasure Island is a well polished and extraordinary theatrical collaboration. When asked why he selected this musical to be produced as a world premier Jeffrey Sanzel the artistic director and for Theatre Three and director of this show explained that when a show of “this caliber” comes along it is hard to pass it up. His direction as well as the efforts of Ellen Michelmore, Musical Director, and Sari Feldman, Choreographer, and Kristy Leigh Hall, costume Designer, were certainly in keeping with the high level of theater that was staged on Thursday night in Port Jefferson, NY.
The show’s creators Gary William Friedman, Composer, Will Holt, Lyricist, and Sherman Yellen, Book, have a long list of musical and drama awards to their credit. Believe me, it is very apparent that this is a professionally crafted work that has a bright future ahead of it.

The cast, led by Steve Mccoy as a swashbuckling Long John Silver and Odell Cureton as the menacing Billy Bones along with Has Hendrickson as Jim Hawkins was a sheer delight. The musical numbers such as “Adventure,” “Pieces of Eight,” “Day of Reckoning,” and “Long John is Long Gone” were smart, catchy, and exceedingly well staged. You’ll find yourself humming these compositions well after you leave the theater.
At times the story seems to move ahead without explanation, however, it does not detract heavily from the plotline.
